Tony Danza was born on April 21, 1951, as Anthony Salvatore Iadanza in Brooklyn, New York City, USA. He spent his early childhood years living in East New York, Brooklyn, until he reached the age of 14. After that, he moved with his family to Malverne, New York, located on Long Island. After that, Danza attended Malverne Senior High School and graduated in 1968. In the first episode of his show Teach: Tony Danza, he describes himself as a poor student in high school. He received a Bachelor’s degree in history from the University of Dubuque in 1972.
In 1975, Danza’s friends sent him to the New York City Golden Gloves Tournament as a practical joke. After defeating his first six opponents in the first round, Danza was knocked out in the finals. Danza turned professional at the end of 1976 and retired in 1979 with a middleweight record of 9 wins and 3 losses.
After graduating from university, one of the producers discovered Tony at a boxing gym and eventually got him into the role of Tony Banta from the television series “Taxi.” And then the sitcom “Who’s the Boss?” His name was also included in the Emmy Award and four Golden Globe Awards nominations.
In 1980, Tony started his acting career, and Tony made his first movie debut, “The Hollywood Knights,” and then the series of movies, “Going Ape,” “Cannonball Run II,” and “She’s Out of Control.”
