Alan Cumming Began his acting career in 1984 with the television series “Travelling Man,” in which he was seen playing the supporting character Jamie. In the late 1980s, he made his appearances in the Scottish Detective fiction film “Taggart,” the Soap opera “Take the High Road” and the Children’s TV drama Series “The Shadow of Stone.” The turning point of his career was in 1991 when he was cast to portray the main character of Bernard Bottle in the comedy film “Bernard and the Genie.” In 1993, he was seen playing in a Funny Skit on the popular UK TV show “Blind Date” alongside Rowan Atkinson, who portrayed Mr. Bean. 

In 1992, he played the main character, Alexandra Novak, in the British drama Film Prague. His performance as the main lead in this film caught the audience’s attention, after which, in 1993, he gave three films back to back: “The Airzone Solution,” “Cabaret,” and “Micky Love.”
