About Andrew Wommack’s Early Life

Andrew Wommack is an ordinary man who found purpose in his Christian faith. He had a difficult upbringing— his father had alcoholism, and they moved frequently during his childhood years. In his teenage years, Andrew also succumbed to alcohol and drugs.

However, everything took a turn when he was 19, and his mother prayed for him. After which, in 1968, Andrew gave himself to Jesus Christ and decided to change his life completely. At that moment, he became a new man who grew his enthusiasm for the Bible and God’s love.

About Andrew Wommack Ministery

During the 1970s, Andrew started a Bible study in his own home, which he gradually transformed into a full-fledged church. He then began travelling everywhere and teaching people about grace, healing, and how to tap into their God-given potential.

In 1972, he married Jamie, and they began travelling together and sharing bible knowledge. Later, they had two sons, Joshua and Jonathan Peter, who could complete their family.
In 1994, Andrew achieved the greatest accomplishment of his life, founding the College of Education, which trained students to become self-believers throughout the United States and the world.

In 1976, Andrew first went on air with his Gospel Truth radio program, aired on a modest country-and-western station based in Childress, Texas. Fast forward to 1980, Andrew and his wife Jamie moved his ministry to the vibrant city of Colorado Springs. Their mission had evolved and become crystal clear: to spread the gospel’s message far and wide, reaching believers in the United States and beyond, paying particular attention to God’s infinite love and the delicate balance between grace and faith.

He passionately pursued his vision by travelling to different speaking engagements, broadcasting on the radio, and giving free audio cassette tapes to those who couldn’t afford them. Little did they know that God had even greater plans for their ministry.

The vision found expression through Andrew’s travels to speaking events and radio broadcasts; audio cassette tapes flowed freely even into hands that could not have otherwise afforded them. Little did they realize that their plans paled compared to what lay ahead for their ministry.

As Andrew enters his seventh decade of life, he and his wife are still travelling around the world and working together in their ministry and hope, restoration, and encouragement rooted in the infinite love of Jesus. From humble beginnings, Andrew has grown into a man of significant influence in the spiritual realm, demonstrating how God’s divine plan can change and shape a person’s life.

Andrew Wommack Controversies

Andrew Wommack had to face various controversies since he became a preacher. One of the most significant issues was about money. Many people have said that he talks a lot about, like if you donate more and more money to his ministry, you’ll get rich.  They feel that they are buying blessings from God.

The other issue was the same as the first one, which was about “seed faith offering,” when you donate money in the hope that you will get more from God in return. Some people called it complicated and also opposed it. During a 2019 interview, Womack shared a story about his son, Jonathan Peter, who was revived in March 2001 after reportedly being dead for five hours.

However, allegations made online by Desiree Womack reveal that Jonathan was revived in a hospital after an overdose, and he claimed to be a victim of spousal abuse within the ministry. Womack disregarded these accusations and still narrated his son’s miraculous resurrection in interviews towards the end of 2021.

In July 2020, the Colorado General Legal Officer’s Office sent an order to shut everything down to Andrew Womack Services for holding get-togethers that surpassed the limitations set by the state on indoor occasions. Even though it was specified that only 175 people should be present at the gathering, Womack called more than 1,000 attendees.

The Attorney General’s Office’s intervention aimed to ensure compliance with public health guidelines due to violations of set limits and safeguarding community welfare.
